Welcome to the Used Truck Campers Website
Ever since their emergence around the 1950s, truck campers have been a popular alternative for outdoor enthusiasts looking to bring a touch of home to the wild. Modern truck campers can offer all the conveniences and amenities of a motorhome and at the same time provide versatility by being able to go almost anywhere a truck can go. They even come in a pop up version for increased versatility. One of the main reason for choosing a truck camper is the ability to remove the camper from the vehicle. Not only does this allow the owner to remove the camper from the truck at the campsite but at home as well. Unlike with the motorhome, which are often only used only a few times a year. The owner of a truck camper, can use his truck by itself all year long and only attach the camper when needed for camping.
Modern truck campers come in a large range of prices and amenities. Most older truck campers and many modern truck campers can be found for under $5,000. However, the newest truck campers with all the amenities, can easily cost over $5,000 and approach the prices of a motorhome. It is really up to the needs of the buyer and the buyers budget, but there is a camper for just about anyone and any budget. If you are on a very tight budget or don't require much in the way of amenities a camper shell may be a good choice.
Is a Truck Camper Right for You?
While truck campers are a great option for anyone looking for the functionality of an RV but still wants to retain the use of their truck when not camping there are other Options.
An affordable option is a folding camping trailer, also known as a tent trailer. Folding camping trailers are towed behind a truck or car and can be quickly removed from the tow vehicle. Like their smaller cousins, 5th wheels and travel trailers are another option for those considering a truck camper. One advantage is that they can offer more space than a truck camper. On the down side, pulling a trailer can be tricky and larger trailers may require a special license.
Where to Find a Used Truck Camper?
The classified section of the newspaper is an option. Many convenience stores also sell classified magazines for recreational vehicles. However, with the limitations of printed classified ads, there is often little information and few or no photos available. This can make finding the right truck camper time consuming. An easier option can be online classifieds and one of the best options is eBay. With eBay, sellers are able to add more information and photos about what they are selling. This saves a lot of time for the buyer. Also, eBay tracks a sellers history, to help a buyer weed out unscrupulous sellers.
